About

Growing up in a small rural community, surrounded by family and creation, taught me much about life. We lived in concert with the moods of the land and the weather. This has always been a major influence on how I see each day’s happenings, the people involved and the stories. The process of giving voice to life’s stories is for me a fascinating journey. Painting allows me to lose myself in the rhythm of brush, paint, colour and imagination, as the inner vision translates into a visual reality.

I always carry a camera with me to catch reflections, light, facial expressions, moods and events which develop into ideas and detailed images. There is no set planning and yet each day seems to bring its own mystery and sense of the unknown which call to be given form and substance.

My work is eclectic, using mixed media, but the underlying theme is always to provide a positive statement, an encouragement and an affirmation about people and nature. Yet if I am in a hurry and fail to listen to the song wanting birth through the medium of paint, then this is not an easy thing to achieve, and I struggle at these times.

I like to try to provide a safe place within my work hoping that it will speak to the viewer. I have found that each person recognizes something a little different in the same picture and I am happy with that.
